Molchat Doma recently kicked off their 2026 North American tour with a sold-out opening night at the historic Majestic Ventura Theater. Formed in Minsk, Belarus, the trio has continued to build a devoted following in the States, and the packed Ventura crowd was further proof of just how far that popularity has grown.

The band made a dramatic entrance, quickly setting the tone for a night built around the dark, danceable post-punk sound that has become unmistakably their own. Vocalist Egor Shkutko commanded the stage with his deep monotone delivery and intense presence, dancing across the stage as Roman Komogortsev moved between guitar, synthesizer and drum machine alongside bassist and synthesizer player Pavel Kozlov.

The ornate surroundings of the Majestic Ventura Theater made for an especially striking backdrop to Molchat Doma’s stark, atmospheric sound. The only thing working against the room was the heat. With seemingly no air conditioning on a warm summer night, nearly everyone inside the packed theater was visibly sweating, but no one seemed particularly bothered by it. The crowd kept moving throughout the set, completely locked into the performance.

Molchat Doma’s combination of driving bass lines, cold synths and Shkutko’s commanding vocals translates incredibly well live. Their sound may be rooted in post-punk, new wave and synth-pop, but there is an energy to their performances that makes the music feel even bigger in the room. A sold-out first night was a fitting way to begin their North American tour, and once again, Molchat Doma showed why their live reputation continues to grow.
